4H Club cooks up some fun!

The girls in the 4H club had a great activity last week at the St. George extension office. Everyone was excited (even the boys) to cook up some scented lotions, lip balm, bath fizzies, and soap. The ingredients were flying, the microwaves BuZzInG, and the air thick with different scents and potions.

All in all it was a great day as the girls got a chance to interact with and mentor the younger group. We are proud of the leadership the girls exhibited and the example they are to others...what a great group of young ladies!

Diamond Ranch Academy Girl's Basketball 2009-2010

The girl's basketball team of 2009-2010 ROCKED!! Some of the girls had never played basketball before. They all gave 100% effort and came together as a team. Their effort really paid off with a final record of 14 wins and 3 losses.

They played in the Washington City League..and this was a women's league. They were the undefeated league champions!!

They also did the impossible. In an intense overtime game against the El Capitan Eagles our team won by 1 point. No one had ever beaten the Lady Eagles...EVER!!

We are all very impressed with these awesome girls! Way to go Lady 'Backs, you earned this tribute!

A big hand and heartfelt thanks to our coaches: Betsy and Gary...we never could have done it without you!

February 14

The upper levels on the home making committee were involved in secretly decorating the dorms with red paper hearts and a few pieces of candy on each person's bed.
As we were going to decorate the dorms, we ran into a few obstacles.  We had to quietly sneak past dorm one because they were in their dorm.  We did manage to decorate their dorm though and it was fun to watch the girls' reactions when they walked into the dorms.  They were pleasently surprised when they found candy on their beds.

At 11:00 all of the girls and staff met at the big building to play games and participate in fun activities.  Some of the girls got face paintings while others simply enjoyed a game of cards.  Time flew by and before we knew it, it was time for lunch.

At two o'clock, all of the girls and staff met in the big building for another activity.  When we walked into the big building, the tables were decorated with cookies and many toppings for them.  As soon as Melanie said we could start everyone was digging in!  Cookies were over-flowing with icing, sprinkles, and fruit snacks.

Shortly after our sugar fiesta, it was time for recreation.  We were all so stuffed from the sugar that we were not looking forward to it.  But just as the entire day was fun, recreation was too!  We played a game called "balloon tag", which turned out to be alot of fun.  We all had a balloon tied to a string and that string was attached to our ankle.  One person was "it" and she did not have a balloon.  In order for her to tag someone, she had tp pop their balloon.  It was a lot of fun and very enjoyable.

After three rounds of balloon tag all of the girls campus went to the cabin to watch a movie together.
And after that, our Valentines Day celebration was over.  It was definetely a Valentines Day we will all remember.

Girl's Night

The night of February eleventh Melanie, the girls’ Night APD, announced to both girls’ campuses that a movie and nail polish painting benefit would be held that evening. A deafening cheer erupted from the girls.

The girls’ staff kicked off the benefit with the movie “Hairspray.” What other film could possibly provide the upbeat energy and ambiance that “Hairspray” does? The girls, six at a time, chose from an array of vibrant hues, ranging from PUREST WHITE to DEEPEST VIOLET Upon viewing the finished product, I was amazed the students had not been to a professional salon. The paint was, in most cases, flawless. Judging by the smiles on the girls’ faces, the event was a smashing success!

Birthday Benefit for January & February

birthday benefit!!

The girls that had birthdays during the months of January and February got a special outing.  They went to Evan's Hairstyling Academy to get facials and manicures.  The facials were a unique experience.  Very relaxing, and very indulgent.

You can sense the excitement in the video, many of the girls had never experienced such pampering before.  And you can tell by the BRIGHT nail polish selections that they were even more excited to show off the end results of the day to anyone who could see them!!

After the cleansing, moisturizing and polishing at Evan's, the girls went to a local buffet-style restaurant, Golden Corral, for all you can eat lunch and dessert.  And if any of you were wondering...when there is a opportunity for ALL YOU CAN EAT goodies, these girls can really pack it away!!
